Treasures Untold is the new chapter of the “Pillars of Meerschaum” Collection,
born out of a fascination of mythical stories about mermaids, shipwrecks and treasure
hunts, and Feyza Kemahlioglu’s deeply rooted connection to the Aegean Sea.
Envisioning a mystical underwater archaeological site, formed by columns of intricately
hand-carved Meerschaum, and hand-blown glass that has the colors, textures and rem-
nants of the Sea, the collection takes you through the experience of exploring underwa-
ter and the mystery of what treasures you will find.
The Pillars are composed of glass globes shaped by hand to resemble rocks, full of texture
and patterns made by colored glass frit and crystals. For the 11 ft long Pillar “The Gem”,
the colors shift from white to turquoise to a darker hue of lagoon, to take you through
the steps of diving into the divine Sea. The white globes with small crystals encrusted on
it resemble seafoam, and waves crashing onto the sand. The turquoise and lagoon pieces
with swirls, speckles, Barnacles and Sea Flowers stuck on the globes take you under the
Sea, where you examine coral reefs, finding seashells, colorful fish and even a ship rope
tangled around a giant rock. The glass “boulder” placed under the fixture is a continua-
tion of the pendant, creating a visual break remniscent of broken down ruins.
